Saturday 20th Feb 2016.
We’re finally getting Pattaya sorted, and we’re leaving tomorrow. We’ve got the buses sorted and are now quite the pro rider! We decided to bite the bullet and risk our baht on some DVDs, 7 for 20B, whether they work or not, it’s all part of the experience! All week, as we’ve sat at ‘our’ restaurant, sellers of all sorts of things have offered us the chance to take something home, but it was only the first day that anyone came around with DVDs, and back then we weren’t interested. Even mid-morning the temperature is climbing so we head toward Walking Street where we saw great stacks of them. Mumma and her son (??) let us sit on their plastic stools to browse thru the titles and we soon have way more than 7, so it’s cull time. The first 5 were easy picks, the 2nd 2 were a bit harder. Mumma says ‘wait here, 5 minutes’ and off she scurries. So, we wait……. Right outside a 7/11 so to fill in time Trevor goes in to buy some beers and smirnoffs for ron. It’s not the time to buy from the 7/11 near us, they have the 11am – 4pm curfew like in Bangkok, but this close to Walking street it must be different rules. Whatev. I saw light sundresses like the one I bought in Bangkok down outside Central Plaza, so we jump the baht bus in that direction. The dresses turn out to be a little different, so not interested. I also bought an oversize tourist souvenir singlet to use as a sleep shirt.
at the entrance to our hotel, love it! |

Made time to sit by the pool again and drink cocktails, this time we try and explain to the waiter that we’d like 2 cocktails in one big glass, and that we’d like one of those each and sit back to wait and see what we get. Success! So before happy hour ends, we order up some more. Bargain, 8 cocktails for the price of four and we’ve got quite a happy buzz on. A swim would have been nice but we don’t want to be carting wet swimmers. So typical isn’t it? You finally get the hang of a place just before you leave!
Finally!! |
After seeing the size of the grilled shrimp at the wedding, we decide to try the ones at our restaurant down the road and of course, they’re nothing like the picture on the menu, but tasty anyway. We need an early night, we’ve got to pack a bit for an early pick up tomorrow to go back to Bangkok. In hindsight, I think this night would have been better spent in an airport hotel in Bangkok, but oh well, you live and learn!
Oh, and of course, at dinner, the DVD seller comes around and her's have the '9' code on them, the ones we need............
Looks like you're thoroughly chilled by now . . . even with the hot weather.
ReplyDeleteYeah, just when we're getting the hang of the place, we have to leave!
